This event is an essential reminder for governments worldwide to stand up for press freedom. It’s also an opportunity for media professionals to ponder ethical issues and freedom of the press. The rally’s primary focus is protecting press freedom, our right to know and free Australian award-winning journalist Julian Assange.
“Journalism is not a crime”, as Joe Biden stated last week.
Moreover, the event will coincide with the visit of US President Joe Biden to Australia, who is attending the QUAD Summit.
Leaders of the United States, Japan, India, and Australia will meet to discuss regional security, economic issues, and other matters of common interest.
We call on everyone who seeks an end to US-led perpetual wars, an end to the shoddy AUKUS deal, an end to US Imperialism to unite today on this historic occasion.
